Founded with a vision for a better and more inclusive world, the Canadian United Humanitarian Foundation (CUHF) has been steadfastly serving communities since its inception. We are a registered charitable organization dedicated to making a positive impact on the lives of newcomers, seniors, youth, and women. Our commitment to fostering vibrant, welcoming communities knows no bounds.

Our Roots and Commitment

CUHF's journey began with a clear purpose: to enrich the lives of individuals and families in need. We were founded in 2013, and for over 10 years, we have proudly provided high-quality services Greater Toronto Area. Situated in Scarborough, Newmarket, Ajax, CUHF takes pride in offering its services to a diverse clientele while upholding a staunch non-discriminatory approach.

Our Mission: Quality of Life, Social Justice, and Community Development

At CUHF, our mission centers around elevating the quality of life and social services, championing social justice, ensuring accessibility, and fostering community development among underserved communities in the Mount Dennis area of Toronto and beyond. We believe in creating opportunities for individuals to thrive, irrespective of their backgrounds, cultural identities, sexual orientations, ethnicities, religions, or places of origin. Our dedication to inclusivity aligns seamlessly with the Canadian Charter of Rights and the Ontario Human Rights Act.

Dedicated Programs and Services

Our dedication to our community is mirrored in our effective programs and services. CUHF offers a welcoming and secure environment where newcomers and neighbors come together to support, learn, and take collective action as responsible citizens. We proudly serve more than 6,000 clients annually, empowering them to contribute to a more compassionate society.

Growing Beyond Boundaries

Our dynamic team is currently working on designing and developing new programs, establishing partnerships, and collaborating with local and international organizations to expand our reach beyond traditional boundaries.

Community-Centric Approach

At CUHF, we believe that communities should play a central role in the decision-making process. We actively involve our communities in needs assessment, target selection, program implementation, and evaluation. CUHF is governed by a dedicated Board of Directors and operates under the capable supervision of our Executive Director and management team.

Our commitment to serving our communities is unwavering, and our journey continues as we strive to create a more inclusive and equitable world for all.

Meet Our Leaders
  • Mohammad Sediq Abedi
    President
    Mr. Abedi, an Afghan-born writer and film director, has been actively assisting Afghan communities across various countries, including Afghanistan, Uzbekistan, Tajikistan, and Canada.

    His dedication to this cause has been evident since 2006, as he has consistently provided aid to refugees and communities, organizing significant events aimed at supporting newcomers as they navigate the complexities of settling in foreign lands.
  • Olena Pkhaladze
    Vice President
    Ms. Pkhaladze is a remarkable individual with expertise in both finance and mental health, holding three majors in these fields. Since 2014, she has been dedicated to assisting immigrants who have settled in Canada. Her support extends to providing education and guidance on financial matters, business registration, and taxation in Canada.

    Starting in 2023, Ms. Pkhaladze also took on the role of a psychotherapist, where she conducts educational seminars on mental health. Furthermore, she offered valuable support to Ukrainian refugees by providing free mental health services and group therapy sessions for individuals dealing with post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD).

  • Said Haroon Hassan
    Executive Director
    Mr. Hassan is the visionary behind the establishment of our company. He is the guiding force behind our core principles and objectives, having personally identified and nurtured the key members of our team, facilitating the expression of their distinct talents within our work environment.

    With a history of outstanding entrepreneurship, Mr. Hassan has effectively overseen numerous prosperous ventures. This success has not only earned him the status of a mentor but also positioned him as a patron for various initiatives undertaken by CUHF.
