What we do

The Canadian United Humanitarian Foundation (CUHF) is driven by a dedicated team of enthusiastic community volunteers. Our primary mission is to inspire hope, offer unwavering support, and provide essential resources to members of our community. Our particular emphasis is on serving newcomers, as well as those who are the most vulnerable and marginalized in our society. To fulfill our mission, CUHF employs a versatile approach that encompasses a range of services, innovative initiatives, and fruitful collaborations. Our efforts are designed to address immediate community needs, promote multiculturalism and dialogue, and create an environment conducive to the successful social and economic integration of newcomers into Canadian society
Programs

By utilizing CUHF's Settlement Services, newcomers, including immigrants and refugees, can smoothly integrate into their new lives in Canada. We offer comprehensive assistance, including support, information, referrals, advocacy, workshops, and orientation for both individuals and families. Our Settlement counselors offer personalized one-on-one and group counseling to assist newcomers in addressing everyday obstacles and facilitating connections with essential community resources. Our overarching goal is to provide unwavering support to newcomers as they navigate the settlement process, acclimate to the city, and adapt to their new cultural surroundings

At CUHF, we understand that immigrants' successful integration in Canada involves both social and economic aspects. We believe in the importance of strong local networks, including ethnic and community groups, in attracting, integrating, and retaining newcomers.

CUHF collaborates with community partners to create safe and inclusive spaces for youth, women, families, seniors, and newcomers, where diversity is respected and celebrated. Our Social and Cultural Services department focuses on providing ongoing support to newcomers, enhancing their cultural awareness, and fostering meaningful social connections within diverse communities.

At CUHF, we are dedicated to the vital role of education in fostering community well-being and a brighter future. Our diverse team of educators, staff, and students actively works to improve community-centered teaching and learning through research and collaboration.

Our mission is to raise awareness about education, social issues, health, and safety, empowering individuals to navigate a changing society. By ensuring equitable access to education and resources, we support marginalized groups in realizing their potential.

CUHF welcomes everyone to join our programs, embracing diversity and rejecting discrimination based on any factors.

For centuries, people escaping conflict and persecution have sought refuge in foreign lands, and today, the global population of forcibly displaced individuals has surged. Millions are stateless, deprived of basic rights like education, healthcare, and freedom.

Immigration is integral to Canada's history and future, contributing to well-being, economic prosperity, and national success.

CUHF staff and volunteers, many with their own immigration experiences, tackle challenges and solutions from a refugee perspective, driving our commitment to a more compassionate and equitable society.

CUHF provides compassionate, non-judgmental counseling to survivors, helping them rebuild trust and regain empowerment. Our program offers private assessments by in-house experts, counseling sessions, crisis intervention, referrals, and mental health education. Many clients, initially guarded and traumatized, take time to build trust. We develop individualized treatment plans with realistic goals, emphasizing accessing inner resources and rebuilding confidence at their own pace

The program follows a proactive, educational, and supportive approach, offering workshops and discussions on topics like boundaries, problem-solving skills, consent, and the dynamics of healthy relationships. We also assist our clients by linking them to relevant community resources and services.

Empowering newcomers and nurturing hope, together we forge a path to a brighter, united future.
